While many entrepreneurs, and savvy careerists careers are engaged in thinking that this is a great time to hold onto whatever piece of the pie they’ve got, I’d like to challenge you to participate in a new trend. Now, is the time to think bigger about a vision for your future.

Changing times affect us all, that is for sure. The difference seems to be what people choose to do in these circumstances. Remember choosing?

One of the coolest things about working with seasoned, committed entrepreneurs is that most understand their own powerful role in creating. So even if your first instinct is to perceive these days as ‘dangerous’, a willingness to look again is worthwhile. Each of us has been dealt a particular hand of cards, and playing well can change in a flash.

Sometimes this can be a challenge to do alone, as we rarely realize the constraints we put on ourselves. Getting support can change the game considerably. If you need to, get an advisor, a mentor or coach to support you, but begin without delay if you intend to alter the course you’re on.

Perhaps you can start here with these questions:

1. Take stock of what’s working and what seems to be lagging. You may find that a prior ‘winner’ hasn’t had much traction lately. Can you see any trends?  What are your strengths now? Stay in the present to build the future.

2. Begin to dream and imagine from a place of strength. What’s possible in today’s world that wasn’t two years ago? What have you learned or noticed or seen that your clients need that you can easily provide? This doesn’t require some pie-in-the-sky positive thinking, rather a commitment to non-negative thinking.

3. Consider HOW you’re getting the word out (aka: marketing), and how you might improve. What can you add or subtract that would make your marketing more powerful, and reach more people? What can you do with content you already possess to better position you as an expert in your field? Move into doing, doing differently, and begin to create.

I’m here to say that any time spent on the beach or day-dreaming anywhere can be the most valuable time spent. Start to expand your thinking to include a vision of a quantum leap for yourself and see what dreams you can tap into. It all starts with a dream.

To your Unforgettable Journey,

J.
